AWARDS AND INSIGNIA
The Scouts must earn their Wolf or Bear badge before any arrow points can be awarded to them. However, they may work on earning the arrow points at any time during each year. Wolf and Bear only work on rank and arrow points. They cannot qualify for the Webelos activity pins.
The scouting year for purposes of awards runs from September to September. Tiger, Wolf and Bear dens are only known by den number. Webelos dens may use a number (i.e. Den 7) or they may adopt a patrol emblem.
The Tiger, Wolf & Bear ranks have a special recognition called The Tiger Totem for Tigers and Progress Toward Ranks for Wolf and Bear. These are beads awarded to the Scout for completing some of his achievements and receiving recognition before actually earning the rank. This makes the process of earning the rank easier on the younger Scouts because they are receiving credit for something while they complete their achievements.
